Reflecting on deeply significant scopes of culture and subjectivity, history and re-created narratives, each artist encompasses a variety of perspectives and experiences. Either grappling with tensions of cultural milieu or the politicization of black lives, together these artists find common ground by creating a narrative of the complex, fluid, and diverse encounters with a black identity in a highly political world.

The exhibition is a collection of paintings, prints, sculptures, and photographs that all confront, question, and reveal a more complete knowledge of the world as it is lived from multiple perspectives of a diaspora. (via Modified Arts)

I would like to invite all of you to attend a multimedia group exhibition that I will be a part of on Roosevelt St! AMERICANA is curated by my good friend and artist Merryn Omotayo Alaka. This show will include artwork by Merryn Alaka, Mia Adams, Kareem Ferreira, Brianna Noble, Kennedy Schneider, Papay Solomon, and Jonathan Wright. Opening reception will be held on February 15th (Third Friday) from 6pm - 9pm and the First Friday reception will be held on March 1st from 6pm-10pm. You can also view the show during Modified Arts' regular business hours from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday and 12pm-4pm on Saturdays. Modified Arts is located in Phoenix at 407 E Roosevelt St, Phoenix, AZ 85004 (click here for map).

At the show, you will view my sculpture titled Left Red Handed. Left Red Handed is a play on words from the well-known statement “caught red handed” meaning that someone has done something bad and was caught in the act. In connection to my piece, the statement left red handed means that an individual was severely hurt and left laying red handed as a result of unjust brutality.

Thank you for reading and I hope you all can attend!
